 Our Farm Story

Ius_edited.jpg

Hello there!

We are a bespoke mushroom farm located right outside the heart of downtown Monroe, North Carolina. When we first met if anyone had told us that in the future we would be working together running a small farm we would have said "that's crazy." Growing up as two country kids it was the farthest  idea from our imagination! Yet serendipity prevailed and today we grow a variety of culinary mushrooms and educate folks about fungi, flora and fauna. Our mission at Winding Brook Farms is "doing good while nurturing connections and community." At Winding Brook Farms - mushrooms & more we want to nourish our neighbors near and far. We believe that no one, especially children, should go hungry. 10% of our profits go to our local community and national organizations to combat hunger.

Winding Brook Farms – mushrooms & more is a unique, cozy farm tucked just outside of the city of Monroe, NC.  As avid nature lovers we  spend our time growing fresh mushrooms, tending our  rabbits/chickens, and keep earthworms.  The property has a mushroom path, lovely places for folks to gather, and is a certified wildlife habitat. As citizen scientists, we strive to provide an environment for many native creatures, with a special interest in pollinators. We also experiment, on a small scale, with the following sustainability activities such as permaculture, forest farming, soil restoration, mycorrhizal research, hügelkultur, self-watering gardens, and container gardens.
